The role of news websites in combating electronic crimes, and its relationship to the public’s attitudes towards them: an empirical study.

Abstract

News Websites are an important and influential media outlet in the communication process and their importance has increased significantly in the digital technological era that dominates us and we live in today. It has become an essential information source for all news and various issues including the issue of cybercrime because it represents an important and serious issue that concerns the public and societies. This is what this study aims to identify the role of news websites in combating cybercrime and its relation to the public’s attitudes towards it and its Relied on the media survey approach. The study was conducted in its field part on a sample of the Egyptian audience that uses news websites and its strength reached 400 individuals. In the analytical part of the study a comprehensive survey was conducted on a number of electronic news sites numbering 3. The study concluded that the scientific hypothesis that there is a correlation between the public follow-up of the activities of news sites in combating cybercrime and the trend towards it was proven.
Youm7 website has the highest coverage of cybercrime among the three websites in the study sample. News websites have played an important role in proving information related to cybercrime.
