Medicine and medical services in the Levant in the seventh century AH
This research talks about medicine and the medical services in Levant in the 7th Hijri century – an era in which we can notice that medicine and medical services are advanced in Levant, add there were a lot of Bimarestanat "hospitals" and the medical education was available on a large scale. Medical studies in that era were divided into two types theoretical and practical. Moreover, the educational establishments in which students studied medical sciences varied, such as scientific symposiums, medical schools, Bimarestanat and mosques. The most famous scientific specializations in that era where general medicine, ophthalmology "AL Kahala", and surgical medicine. Doctors used to work in different fields. Some of them worked in medical supervision, others worked in treating the patients in Bimarestanat and castles, and others work as a doctor accompanying the Ayyoubian kings, and they got good prizes and salaries for their work in Bimarestanat or with the kings. In this era in Levant, there were a lot of common diseases which a lot of people suffered the from like diseases and the diseases which affected eyes. This error witnessed the spread of Bimarestanat which offered good treatment for the patients in most of Levant cities, like Damascus, Aleppo, Hama, Akko, Raqqa, and Jerusalem. The biggest center was Elnoori Bimarestan in Damascus which was distinguished with its diverse and advanced medical services. Then, at the end I mentioned a biography of the most famous doctors in Levant in the 7th hijri century, and their role which they did both in medical education and in treating diseases.
